Valorant Sova Agent Guide: Abilities, tips and tricks

Here's everything you need to know about Sova.

Sova is an agent in Valorant who plays as an Initiator. The Russian has been part of Riot Games' shooter since its Beta version.

Abilities

Sova's abilities focus on gathering information and forcing enemies to move from their comfort positions. Therefore, Sova should be used to support the Duelists' attacks on the bombsite.

Basic - Owl Drone

Sova's Owl Drone is his only ability that doesn't see his popular arch in action. After triggering this ability, Sova will release a flying drone that he will use to shoot a dart at his enemies. If an opponent is hit, its location will be revealed to Sova and his teammates.

Basic - Shock Bolt

Sova can use his Shock Bolt to send an explosive arrow towards his enemies. Sova can choose the times the arrow can bounce, from zero to two times. It explodes instantly after its last bounce.

Signature - Recon Bolt

Sova's Recon Bolt is his Signature ability. The Russian can use his Recon Bolt to get the exact location of the enemies nearby. The arrow isn't bulletproof, which means enemies can destroy it to avoid the effects of the gadget. Like his Recon Bolt, Sova can choose how many times it can bounce before it activates.

Ultimate - Hunter's Fury

Sova's Ultimate is a long-range weapon that he can use to spot and eliminate his enemies. The energy blast travels across walls and can be used three times.

How to use Sova in Valorant?

Here are some tips on how to use Sova in Valorant!

Always use your Reckon Bolt

Remember that Sova is an Initiator, not a Duelist. Therefore, you are expected to get as much information as possible. Sova's Reckon Bolt is the perfect tool.

If you're attacking, throw a Reckon Bolt toward one of the Bombsites to let the Duelists know how many opponents they will fight against and their respective locations. However, if you're defending, throw the Reckon Bolt towards mid or close to your Bombsite to know if an attacker is coming.

Once you have used your Reckon Bolt, you will have to wait for the Duelists to use that information to their advantage.

It's also worth mentioning the possibility of using the Reckon Bolt as bait. For instance, you can throw the Reckon Bolt to Bomb A but push Bomb B.

Communication is crucial

Communication in Valorant is always important but especially when you play with an Initiator. If you're a Reyna fan who loves being a lone wolf, Sova isn't your agent.

When using Sova you're expected to communicate a lot. This means that you must know the callouts for each map. Additionally, you will have to give your teammates information regarding the location of the enemies and potential rotations.
